A variety of class times and subjects allows you to pick classes that best fit your interests and schedule. Student accumulate credits toward a Diploma of Theology (16 credit hours) or an Associate of Divinity Degree (64 credit hours). Student registration is a bit simpler this year; click here to see a list of classes and register through PayPal as a Degree or Diploma student.

Auditing is also available at half the cost for those who would like to take classes and receive materials but are not seeking credits toward a degree. If you are interested in auditing a class, please click here to register as an audit student. This reserves your seat and ensures that materials are available on the first day of classes.

Alan Shelby leads a Team to New Orleans

Sunday, June 1st, 2008

This mission to help New Orleans reconstruction will stretch our faith, show us new ways to utilize our gifts, and give us a fresh perspective of our country by moving us out of our community comfort zone. The trip is best described as a work week with evening revival meetings, and some time for sightseeing.

During this trip the team will meet pastors and believers in and around hard-hit areas and discover the joys and challenges of ministry there; visit cultural and historic sites teeming with inspiration, and discover that “the soul is waterproof”; and serve believers and the lost community in construction projects and praying over their homes, churches and city.

Seventeen people are scheduled to depart Monday, June 9 and return Saturday, June 14. Pray for us as we partner with the Laymen’s Movement of the National Baptist Convention to assist with improvements, repairs, and reconstruction to areas of the lower Ninth Ward devastated by hurricane Katrina.

Spring Shepherd School Classes

Tuesday, January 1st, 2008

There are exciting and edifying Spring 2008 Shepherd School courses. We are offering eight credit hours Saturday mornings, Sunday nights and Wednesday evenings.

The semester formally kicks-off January 12 with an outstanding Youth workers class team-taught by Mark Brown from FBBC in Blue Springs and Jim Lee and Kent Liles from KCBT. They will give you a biblical philosophy of youth ministry, teach you how to do youth counseling, and give instruction on running youth camps, sports leagues and other events.

Following that on Saturday, Greg Axe will complete his Bible Survey by examining every book of the New Testament.

Next, Arturo LaCruz will tailor the Church Music class to be practical, and focused on areas of audio and technical production, as well as how to convey the Bible through worship arts.

To round-out the Saturday schedule, Alan Shelby will initiate a class on the History and Heritage of the Bible during our Bible Conference, February 24-27 at KCBT, and then complete the class on Saturdays during March. It will cover issues of manuscript evidence and Bible translations.

On Wednesday nights Jeff Cox will bring an important and practical look at the book of 1 Kings.

Our Sunday night class this semester is extraordinary. Dr. Adams will teach Concepts of Biblical Leadership from the book of Ezra. Every member of our church should want to be a part of that.

In addition to our regular four-year diploma program, we now offer an Associate of Divinity degree. However, anyone in the church can take a class FREE for personal enrichment (no materials provided), or audit a class for no credit to get the handouts. The application fee is $10 and tuition is still just $30 per credit hour. Click here for a full description of each study program.

Please enroll by Sunday, January 6. It is convenient to enroll and pay fees online from the Shepherd School website.
