Kids Night Out

Wednesday, April 1st, 2009

The SkyKids Children’s Ministry would like to extend an invitation to all parents in need of a night out.  Friday, April 17, 2009 is our next Kids’ Night Out event here at KCBT.  Your children, birth to 5th grade, will enjoy a themed evening that will include dinner and a rotation of activities while you enjoy a night on the town!

As you are planning your evening away from the children, consider making this night an evangelistic one.  Invite another parent to go out with you and bring their children to Kids’ Night Out.  This is the perfect opportunity to get to know your neighbors or a co-worker and begin to share your life with them.

Space is limited to the first 100 children.  Registration is required; this event fills up quickly so sign-up online today! The cut-off date for registration is Sunday, April 12.  The cost for each child is $3 and will be paid at the door.  Questions should be directed to Summer Montgomery at 816.358.0988 x 2016.

Kids’ Night Out

Sunday, February 1st, 2009

Every set of parents hears, “ You must take time for each other.  Never quit dating your spouse…”  Although we all know this is a wise piece of advice, the reality is that finding time in a busy world to set aside for such an “indulgence” is just not always a priority for many couples.  Also, one cannot overlook the expense involved in a true date night.  The cost of a babysitter and then dinner and movie can easily cost in the ballpark of $75.  This can be very hard on the budget!

The SkyKids Children’s Ministry would like to extend an invitation to all parents in need of a night out.  On February 20, 2009, the first church-wide Kids’ Night Out will be held here at KCBT.  Your children, birth to 5th grade, will enjoy a themed evening (“Carnival!) that will include dinner and a rotation of activities.  The kids will love the magician, balloon-twisting class, interactive team games and a movie with snacks and popcorn while you and your spouse are out on the town!

As you are planning your evening away from the children, consider making this night an evangelistic one.  Invite another couple to go out with you and bring their children to Kids’ Night Out.  This is the perfect opportunity to get to know your neighbors or a co-worker and begin to share your life with them.

Space is limited to the first 100 children.  Registration is required; sign-up on-line today! The cut-off date for registration is February 18.  The cost for each child is $3 and will be paid at the door.  Questions should be directed to Summer Montgomery at 816.358.0988 x 2016.

100 Thank You’s

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

Recently, SkyKids Early Childhood Department launched a recruitment campaign, simply called, “The 100”.  The nursery, 0-30 months, had 100 spots to fill with people possessing loving hearts and an attitude to serve our babies and their families. In only a few short weeks, the nursery has almost filled every available opening! God has provided amazing people in an incredible amount of time. Thank you to everyone who has filled one of these openings. The Early Childhood team appreciates your commitment and cannot wait to get to know you!

There are a still a few needs in Early Childhood. Interested in joining the team? You’ll find details about Nursery Classes (0-30 months) and Preschool Classes (2.5 - 5 years) on their webpages, including a breakdown of each class and corresponding openings in each age group. Prospective volunteers are asked to serve one service time, two Sundays a month. Signup online today! You’ll be contacted before beginning work in the minstry.

Diapers and Discipleship: Nursery and Preschool Servants Needed

Monday, September 1st, 2008

As KCBT prepares for the new service changes on September 14, a critical need presents itself in the Nursery and Preschool Departments. This department often gets a less-than-desirable reputation as people look to minister and serve in our body.

Working in the Early Childhood Department is more than child care - It is truly ministry to children and their families. It is Discipleship.

Infants hear songs about Jesus loving them and keep full attention on the face of the person singing. Toddlers learn to bow their heads and pray and say, “Amen.” Preschoolers retell Bible stories in their own beautiful language, surprising their families at their knowledge and application of the passage. Parents forge relationships with each other that last a lifetime. Leaders and teachers co-labor together, building relationships with each other that could not be formed any other place.

As we plan for September 14, we project a need for 100 dedicated servants to adequately staff our Nursery Department. Workers 18 and older are needed for one service time (9:45 or 11:15) two Sundays per month; you’ll still be able to attend the main service or a ministry fellowship at the opposite service time. Visit the department page for class descriptions and a list of current openings.

Contact Summer Montgomery for more information as you consider this unique calling.

SkyKids Children’s Ministry Visitor Welcome Booth

Friday, August 1st, 2008

Be on the lookout for new families as they check in to SkyKids at the new Visitor Welcome Booth in KCBT’s foyer! All visiting children and their parents receive information about the ministry, maps of the church, a few treats, and an escort to their classrooms from KCBT’s “SkyCaps” – a group of friendly third, fourth, and fifth grade students. The families also enroll children at this booth, making outreach and follow-up an easy process.

As you invite new families to visit KCBT or see them on Sunday morning, please direct them to the Visitor Welcome Booth located under the large, green arrow that says, “Welcome Kids!”  Spanish translation is available every week.

If you are interested in serving new families and would like to work at the booth, please contact Summer Montgomery at 816.358.0988 x 2016.

Several training events will take place before the implementation of the system. Further information will be available in our main services at 9:00 and 10:45 AM in the weeks to come. Get ready!

Wednesday Evening Mom’s Group

Tuesday, July 1st, 2008

A new group for mothers began in June.  The format on Wednesday Evenings is designed for moms of many backgrounds–single, married, divorced, working, stay-at-home, multiple children, one child, young children, older children, grown children–to get together and share their experiences and encouragement.  A devotion, time for prayer, small group discussion, refreshment and mind-renewing are all components of each meeting.

This is also a wonderful opportunity to invite other mothers who may not attend our church.  The group meets the first and third Wednesday evenings of each month in room 203.  Childcare is provided for children birth to fifth grade.  A child care and refreshment rotation will be place.  Please contact Summer Montgomery with any questions.

SkyKids Volunteer Training

Tuesday, July 1st, 2008

A brief training for all new volunteers in the SkyKids Children’s Ministry began in June.  This gives all people interested in serving KCBT’s children an opportunity to ask questions, learn policies and procedures, fill out necessary paperwork and indicate preferences for working in the ministry.

There are many new areas for members to serve, including the Special Needs ministry and the new Visitor Welcome Booth.  The Elementary Department has implemented the Education Rotation Model, in which children are taught and ministered to through the areas of art, sports, science and movies.  The Early Childhood Department also has several openings for people that are willing to teach and nurture the littlest ones.  Volunteers that are bi-lingual are especially appreciated, as the ministry continues to reach out to families from other cultures.

Volunteer Orientations are held the fourth Sunday of every month in Room107 from 9:15 to 10:00 am.  Please contact Summer Montgomery or Donivan Best with any questions.
